Topsy-Turvy
has
been running now for twenty years, and grew out of our shared interest
in (passion for ?!!) children’s books. As a result of
expanding our own collections, we started to have copies we no longer
wanted - and how better to fuel our hobby than by dabbling in a sale
here and there?
Why Topsy-Turvy? Well, when
we decided to combine forces, we both wanted to keep our own style of
catalogue, and we have slightly different collecting interests, so we
looked for a way of preserving our independence in a joint
catalogue. The solution was our printed catalogue, which is
double ended; start at one end and you get Betula’s books, then turn it
upside down and begin at the other end and you get Sally’s
books. Hence the name. Lots of our e-mail customers
wonder about this, since they’ve never seen the printed version which
makes it obvious.
We produce three catalogues a year,
usually February / March, June / July and October / November, and hope
there is something here to interest you.
We've also started to organise a
biennial conference, Twentieth-Century Schoolgirls and Their
Books.
Betula
has stepped back from doing regular catalogues due to changing family
circumstances, but I am hoping to continue as I do enjoy the contact
with fellow collectors. If you would like to contact me, click here to
